In the ongoing heat wave, the heat remains till late at night. Even after 10 pm the demand for electricity is high; But the production decreases
There is no way to distinguish between day and night heat due to ongoing heat wave across the country. The heat remains till late night. In this, even after midnight, the demand for electricity does not decrease much; But the power generation starts to decrease slightly after 10 pm. Last few days the maximum load shedding is after midnight. This situation is more prevalent across the country, especially outside Dhaka.
Laiju Begum, a resident of Mohammadpur in the capital, is fed up with loadshedding. He told Prothom Alo that the electricity went off when he went to sleep at 12 o'clock. It comes after an hour. The power went out again around two o'clock before the sleep was a bit deeper. Then there is no electricity for half an hour. This has been going on for four days. No one can sleep. Children find it difficult to go to school in the morning.
Village people suffer more from loadshedding than the residents of the capital. Higher than normal temperatures have caused load shedding in Rajshahi, Nilphamari, Dinajpur and Chuadanga. Rahidul Islam of Budhpara area of Rajshahi Nagar said that the electricity went off after 12 midnight for several days. If the electricity goes out in this summer, the trouble increases.
The Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), the only state organization that transmits electricity from the power plant to the national grid, says that the maximum load shedding is happening from 12:00 pm to 3:00 am. After 10:00 PM, the electricity production drops to an average of 2,000 megawatts. During normal hours, electricity demand decreases at night; But it is not decreasing much for few days. Due to lack of fuel, power generation cannot be increased, so load shedding has increased.

According to PGCB data, the peak demand for electricity is generally observed from 6 pm to 10 pm. At this time, electricity production is also increased. On June 2, the maximum electricity generation was at 9 pm, 14 thousand 377 MW. At this time load shedding is only 375 MW. After that, production started to decrease and load shedding increased. After midnight, production is 11 to 11.5 thousand megawatts. On that day, 1 thousand 992 megawatts and 1 thousand 703 megawatts were done at 1 am and 3 am. The load-shedding situation after midnight was almost like this for the previous three days as well. Last Saturday also at 12 noon the maximum load shedding was 2 thousand 247 MW.
